Despite Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta watching his side lose 2-0 to Tottenham in their Premier League showdown on Sunday, the Gunners\u2019 top brass are reportedly remaining staunch in their support of the Spaniard and are disinclined to give the Spaniard the boot, it has been claimed.<\/p>\n
The Gunners\u2019 season hit a new all-time low on Sunday, with Mourinho\u2019s marauders\u00a0inflicting a 2-0 defeat on their north London rivals. Their dynamic duo of Heung-min Son and Harry Kane\u00a0were again spot on target for the home side, catapulting them back to the Premier League summit in the process.<\/p>\n
Arsenal entered the fray of the game in dire need of a win to release some pressure off Arteta and his squad. However Tottenham obviously had another script in mind and the Gunners were put to the sword with Son and Kane scoring scoring yet again to inflict yet another painful defeat.<\/p>\n
Fans incensed with the loss took to social media to vent their fury at the Arsenal hierarchy and at Arteta for his decisions. Thomas Partey was also not spared the criticism for hobbling off the field in the build-up to Kane\u2019s goal, riling not least Arteta in the process.<\/p>\n
There are those who believe Arsenal should show the struggling Spaniard the exit following their worst-ever start to a Premier League season with 13 points from 11 matches so far definitely not being anywhere near good enough for a team with Arsenal\u2019s history.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s purportedly claimed that the entire club – from the top-ranking hierarchy of the ownership right down to the playing squad – are behind their former midfielder as Arteta is viewed as a long-term project for Arsenal who are also not a club who believe in playing musical chairs with their managers.<\/p>\n
So it looks like despite the alarmingly poor results so far, Arteta will still be around for a little while longer yet.<\/p>\n
Speaking after the game, Arteta rued his side\u2019s inability to get on the scoresheet against Tottenham – despite having majority possession of the ball.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cThis is football.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey had one shot on target and scored a wonder goal. And the second one, we got done on the break because Thomas [Partey] got injured and was not in a position.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe had to fall on the floor. We gave the second one. I saw a team. I saw my team full of desire, passion, dominating completely the game, creating all the chances, creating all the situations.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end, it\u2019s about end product. This is why they [Spurs] are first in the table.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey created two situations and scored two goals. I think we had 54 crosses, I don\u2019t know how many shots, only two on target.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis game is about doing that. We have to carry on, keep fighting and be the team that we were today but improving, obviously, those details.\u201d<\/p>\n
Asked whether Arsenal\u2019s defense could have been better against Tottenham\u2019s goals, he added: \u201cI think on the first one, I think a little bit better in the phase just before losing the ball.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are really similar, we had a situation to score a goal and on the rebound, they take it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey are really good at holding that first ball and Son scores from 20-yards, 25-yards in the top bin.<\/p>\n
