With a new turbocharged frontline featuring Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale in their attack, pundits and fans alike are saying Spurs have the firepower to be title contenders in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n
Gary Neville has agreed with Jamie Carragher that it would be a great story for Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham to win the Premier League, but while Neville\u00a0reckons Spurs have the firepower to finish top of the pile, he isn\u2019t holding his breath to see the north London side end their long wait for the title.<\/p>\n
“I said a couple weeks ago on Monday Night Football that Spurs couldn’t win the league, and I still don’t think they can,” he told The Gary Neville Podcast.<\/p>\n
“But I do agree with Jamie Carragher that it would be the most outstanding story to see Jose Mourinho win the Premier League with Tottenham.<\/p>\n
“It would be something that would alarm Chelsea fans, Manchester United fans and Arsenal fans. It would be one of the great stories, because Tottenham don’t win leagues!<\/p>\n
“He’s got the forward players to do it. You think of the strike force and the goals – it’s incredible.”<\/p>\n
Tottenham briefly went top following their 1-0 win at West Brom on Sunday – although they were deposed later on by Leicester after the Foxes saw off Wolves.<\/p>\n
Spurs’ brief appearance at the league\u2019s summit was the first time they had topped the table since August 2014, but with Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Son Heung-Min in their attack there are hopes they can win a first league title since 1961.<\/p>\n
Carragher told Sky Sports if his former club Liverpool were to be dethroned, he would love Tottenham to be crowned champions, saying it would be satisfying to see Mourinho prove his doubters wrong, as many believe the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager’s best times are now only memories of a fading past.<\/p>\n
