Watford forward and talkSPORT Breakfast host Troy Deeney is insistent that Tottenham will NOT win the Premier League title this season, as they do not have enough cover for star attackers Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.<\/p>\n
The Watford forward Troy Deeney affirms that claiming a first ever Premier League trophy this term is out of Tottenham\u2019 grasp.<\/p>\n
The Lilywhites have been on a clean slate, having started the 2020\/21 campaign strongly, and Sunday\u2019s defeat of Brighton moved them up to second place, just two points behind early leaders Liverpool after seven games.<\/p>\n
Their impressive early season form has been largely down to the fine attacking feats and impressive form of strike partners Kane and Son, with the former netting six goals and assisting EIGHT already this term, and Son leading the scoring charts with eight goals in just seven matches.<\/p>\n
Returnee Gareth Bale finally scored his first goal since his on-loan comeback to Tottenham on Sunday, as he netted the winner against Brighton.<\/p>\n
Apart from Kane and Son, no other player has scored more than once for Spurs so far this Premier League season, with Gareth Bale joining Lucas Moura, Serge Aurier and Tanguy Ndombele with one goal each.<\/p>\n
However, bigger things are expected of Bale as he is clearly still working his way back to full fitness following his slump and lack of playing time at Real Madrid over the past year.<\/p>\n
And Deeney\u00a0is actually doubtful whether Bale will be able to complete a whole season, which will cause Spurs\u00a0serious issues should Kane or Son be sidelined through injury.<\/p>\n
Asked by Laura Woods if Tottenham can win the Premier League on Monday\u2019s talkSPORT Breakfast, Deeney replied:<\/p>\n
\u201cCan they? Yes, they can. But, will they? I\u2019d probably stick to no.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think over the course of a season \u2013 and the mid-week showed it \u2013 if they were to get injuries to Kane or Son, have they got somebody who can step up and score the goals and keep them going?<\/p>\n
\u201cBale has had his injuries so you can\u2019t rely on him. I don\u2019t mean that negatively, but can you sit there and say, \u2018he is going to be fit all year round\u2019?<\/p>\n
\u201cI think ultimately they will always concede goals, so I think they might just fall short [of winning the title].<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I would say top four.\u201d<\/p>\n
