Manchester United failed to sign Jadon Sancho this summer, not unexpectedly considering the way they shabbily and shamelessly conducted the negotiations with their cheapskate and delay tactics that were clear for all to see.<\/p>\n
United\u2019s chest-thumping dream of capturing Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho met with zilch and has now suffered another huge blow as Liverpool are prepared to sanction a \u00a3100million move next summer, according to reports.<\/p>\n
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told his superiors to sign Sancho at the start of the transfer window but his superiors, particularly one Ed Woodward, opted instead for playing their version of a long waiting poker game with negotiations in the hope that it would drive down the price. So what\u2019s new?<\/p>\n
However and but of course, Dortmund refused to budge from their \u00a3108m valuation and were only too happy to hang onto their highly-prized, and highly-priced, England international who happens to be one of their key assets, apart from Norwegian stunner Erling Haaland.<\/p>\n
United did not bring in another right winger in the recent transfer window and are hoping, as is expected, to return for Sancho next year. However, that move could run right smack into another brick wall as the Independent claims Liverpool are nowwetting their lips and keen on the 20-year-old but could not afford to buy him for the 2020\/21 campaign.<\/p>\n
However, the Reds feel they will have the funds next summer and are prepared enter the race. To exacerbate matters for the United desperados, Sancho is apparently eyeing Anfield over Old Trafford. Smart lad.<\/p>\n
And a bidding war could hike up the price over the original \u00a3108m, especially as Bayern Munich have also crept stealthily into the picture and are also seriously contemplating a swoop.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp publicly flirted with a potential move for Sancho.<\/p>\n
“A red jersey would look very good on Jadon Sancho,” he told Bild. “But I don’t think such a transfer will take place this summer.<\/p>\n
“He is a very interesting player. If he moved to Liverpool, I would be the most surprised of all.”<\/p>\n
United ended up bringing in Edinson Cavani instead of Sancho on deadline day and former goalkeeper Tim Howard was unimpressed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe transfer window is never easy,” he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey don\u2019t seem like they\u2019re panic buying, they just seem like they are second, third and fourth option buys.<\/p>\n
