The Egyptian Football Association expressed \u201cshocked\u201d to find that the several trophies including African Cup of Nations were missing at the moment.<\/p>\n
The disappearance came to light during the process of setting up a small museum at the entrance of its Cairo headquarters.<\/p>\n
Former board member of Egypt FA, Magdi Abdel-Ghani initially claimed the trophy was with a former captain or former coach, but later suggested it was lost in an attack on the headquarters by fans in 2013.<\/p>\n
The Egypt FA said in a statement that the trophies may have gone missing during the 2013 attack.<\/p>\n
A group of fans known as \u201cultras\u201d torched the Egypt FA headquarters that year as they protested court verdicts related to a riot in 2012 in which more than 70 fans were killed.<\/p>\n
The Confederation of African Football said it was shocked by the loss of the trophies and offered its support in \u201cthe search for the priceless memorabilia.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Pharaohs are the most successful team in the African tournament, winning seven titles throughout the history.<\/p>\n
