Pep Guardiola has revealed exactly what he said to Zinedine Zidane on the sidelines after his Manchester City side knocked the Frenchman’s Real Madrid side out of the Champions League.<\/p>\n
City convincingly made it through to the quarter finals of the competition with a creditable 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night, in a repeat of their 2-1 first leg win in Madrid back in February.<\/p>\n
Guardiola and Zidane were pictured having a conversation post-match on the touchline after everyone else had long left the pitch, and the City boss revealed what the chat was about.<\/p>\n
“I congratulated him for La Liga,” the Spaniard said in the post match press conference,<\/p>\n
“I always said to win the league is the most difficult title because it shows 11 months being there.<\/p>\n
“We spoke about our families and I wished him all the best. He was one of my idols when I was a player.<\/p>\n
“I played against him in the national team with France and I suffered a lot.<\/p>\n
“He was one of the greatest and as a human being he is an example and I like how he can represent our profession like he does.”<\/p>\n
