Liverpool legend and former England winger John Barnes\u00a0has issued an immediate apology after a social media gaffe that saw him accidentally post an image from a pornographic video on Twitter on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Barnes had initially tweeted a screenshot of a message he had received featuring a picture of US President Donald Trump and his late mother Mary Anne, along with a quote attributed to the latter in which she supposedly referred to her son as an “idiot” and with the prediction that he would be a “disaster” if he ever moved into politics.<\/p>\n
“Says it all,” wrote Barnes as a caption above the picture.<\/p>\n
Little did the 56-year-old realise that positioned right below the screenshot was a camera roll that featured a thumbnail image from a pornographic video. Realising his mistake later, the former England winger subsequently removed the tweet and hastily issued an apology for any offence caused.<\/p>\n
“I have to apologise for any offence caused as I posted a Donald trump picture sent to me by a friend.. on the camera roll under was a video of pornography,” he later tweeted.<\/p>\n
“I wasn\u2019t aware that it was there and apologise once again for any offence caused.”<\/p>\n
Although Barnes’ mistake inevitably drew a lot of attention on social media, he did not shy away from discussing the error.<\/p>\n
When suggested to him that he perhaps should have cropped the photo, Barnes replied as a matter of fact: “Don\u2019t know how to do that… I\u2019m afraid to press buttons on this phone.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m 56 yrs old, so happy to just be able to get one or 2 words out on twitter that people understand!!”<\/p>\n
