The original June 12 return date is felt by some quarters to be too soon for a return to action with Clubs being worried about the lack of contact training and are expected to ask for three weeks to get into shape.<\/p>\n
ESPN report that the 20 clubs are \u201cexpected to push for a Friday date later in the month to restart the season\u201d in a series of meetings that will take place this week with the understanding that consultation with players and managers is taking place between now and then.<\/p>\n
With the Government\u2019s guidelines for contact training now published, it is anticipated that clubs will gradually build up the level of contact, from \u2018clusters\u2019 of two to three players initially, through larger groups before a return to full team training.<\/p>\n
Covid-19 testing is expected to continue on a twice-weekly basis and the latest round is taking place on Monday and Tuesday, with results expected on Wednesday with a return to action likely on June 19 or June 26.<\/p>\n
The report claims \u201cthere remains a desire to start on a Friday night and\u00a0Tottenham\u2019s home game against\u00a0Manchester United\u00a0\u201chas been pencilled in as a possible opening fixture\u201d.<\/p>\n
