Former Blues winger Sinclair fears the highly-rated coach will soon be lured away from the Etihad Stadium back to Barca, returning to his roots.<\/p>\n
Pep Guardiola is being pulled \u201chome\u201d by the Blaugrana and there is a \u201cgood chance\u201d the coach will leave the Etihad in the near future, claims former winger Trevor Sinclair.<\/p>\n
Questions have been asked about the 49-year old manager\u2019s presence in England for some time now, especially after the club had run afoul of Financial Fair Play regulations. As things stand, Guardiola is only tied to terms with City through to the summer of 2021.<\/p>\n
As yet, Guardiola has not signed an extension to his contract and has refrained from being drawn into discussions regarding how long he plans to stick around with the reigning Premier League champions which is being interpreted as leaving an exit door ajar, while those in Barcelona are not hiding their willingness to welcome a familiar, proven face back into their dugout.<\/p>\n
Sinclair fears it is only a matter of time before Guardiola returns to his roots, telling talkSPORT: \u201c(Joan) Laporta went in there at Barcelona when Pep was youth team manager and he put Pep up in charge of the first-team, and 14 trophies in four years later\u2026 what an amazing partnership.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou don\u2019t have that kind of partnership with a person at a club you love\u2026 Pep is Catalan through and through.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf you go away, I think your heart will always try and bring you back home and I think\u00a0if there is one person that can get Pep Guardiola back to Barcelona, it\u2019s Joan Laporta.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe time scale, 2021 when Pep\u2019s contract finishes, he will want to finish the job and win the Champions League with Manchester City, but he may not be able to do that depending on what happens with the UEFA ban.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd on a human level we know Pep has just lost his mum to coronavirus, and I feel that Barcelona is pulling him home and there\u2019s a good chance he could end up back at Barcelona.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Sinclair believes Guardiola is destined to head back to Camp Nou, famous City fan Noel Gallagher is not convinced that the proven winner is looking for a way out of his current surroundings.<\/p>\n
The Oasis star said when quizzed on the exit talk: \u201cI can\u2019t see it.<\/p>\n
\u201cPep runs Man City, he runs it. When you go to Barcelona you don\u2019t run it, you know what I mean?<\/p>\n
\u201cHe left for a reason, I think there are a lot of politics at the club.<\/p>\n
But at City, he runs it, make no mistake about this, he runs it from top to bottom.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think he\u2019s in the most enviable position. Apart from him and Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool,\u00a0I\u2019d say every manager wants to be in that position where they are the top man at the club.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat Pep says goes at that club and that\u2019s the end of it. So for him to throw that away and go back to Barcelona, where all the politics and the history\u2026 and going back, can it ever be as good?<\/p>\n
