A heartbreaking moment in football as coach Francisco Garcia died at the age of 21 after contracted with COVID-19.<\/p>\n
He was tested positive last week, having been sent to the\u00a0Regional Hospital of Malaga for treatment.<\/p>\n
Upon his arrival at the hospital, Garcia was found to be suffering from a form of\u00a0leukaemia which made him more vulnerable to the virus.<\/p>\n
The Spaniards has been the youth manager for Malaga-based club Atletico Portada Alta since 2016.<\/p>\n
Garcia is the youngest person to have died from coronavirus to date, with the death rate at its highest among those over the age of 70.<\/p>\n
Atletico Portada Alta official statement<\/p>\n
“We want to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and close friends of our coach Francisco Garc\u00eda who has left us, unfortunately, today.<\/p>\n
“Now what do we do without you, Francis?\u00a0You were always there with us at Portada or wherever you were needed, helping out.\u00a0How can we keep covering all those kilometres in the league?<\/p>\n
“We don’t know how, but we will surely do it for you.<\/p>\n
“We will not forget you, rest in peace, phenomenon.\u00a0Until forever. ”<\/p>\n
Second division outfit Malaga CF also expressed their condolences to Garcia’s friends and family in a short message on Twitter:<\/p>\n
“From the club, we want to convey to Atl\u00e9tico Portada Alta our deepest condolences for the loss of one of their coaches, Francisco Garc\u00eda, as well as send a warm hug to his family and friends. Together we must stop Covid-19.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
