UEFA dropped a bomb early this morning when they decided to ban Manchester City from any European competition for the next two years.<\/p>\n
According to the official statement, the independent Adjudicatory Chamber of the Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) has found that Man City committed serious breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations by overstating its sponsorship revenue in its accounts and in the break-even information submitted to UEFA between 2012 and 2016.<\/p>\n
The Adjudicatory Chamber has also found that in breach of the regulations the Man City failed to cooperate in the investigation of this case by the CFCB.<\/p>\n
As a result, the chamber has imposed disciplinary measures through an expulsion from participation in UEFA club competitions in the next two seasons until 2022 and fined for \u20ac30 million.<\/p>\n
City quickly responded that they will appeal to the Court of Arbitration of Sports at the earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n
The serious breaches in UEFA are also a breach in domestic competition and Man City is likely to face points deduction from Premier League.<\/p>\n
Two-year suspension is quite a long absence, and although it will not affect Man City in terms of their finance, they could lose Pep Guardiola and several of their players who wants to play in the Champions League.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
