He will be turning 80 in October, but he is not in healthy condition at the moment and reluctant to leave the house because he cannot walk unaided.<\/p>\n
His son Edinho revealed that his father has had hip trouble for years and now needs a frame to walk.<\/p>\n
That is true, as many of his recent public appearances have been in a wheelchair.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s pretty fragile. He had a hip replacement and didn\u2019t have an adequate or ideal rehabilitation,\u201d Edinho told TV Globo.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo he has this problem with mobility and that has set off a kind of depression. Imagine, he\u2019s the King, he was always such an imposing figure and today he can\u2019t walk properly.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s embarrassed, he doesn\u2019t want to go out, be seen, or do practically anything that involves leaving the house.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe is very sheepish, reclusive.\u201d<\/p>\n
Edinho also said Pele refused to do a physiotherapy after a hip operation.<\/p>\n
