Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville is outshining and performing Erling Haaland with one of the Premier League’s best conversion rates according to WhoScored.
Summerville’s name has recently been getting belted out from the terraces for weeks with his pristine, clinical finishing against Liverpool and Bournemouth.
The young Dutch sensation is currently second in the Premier League for the 2022/2023 season for having the best conversion rate after his recent goal spree.
Yet while that may be the case, it’s still a bit too early for the Whites fanbase to get too carried away as Summerville has only started three games this season and may yet hit a notorious dry patch similar to the one Patrick Bamford went through the more starts he gets.
There’re no doubts that Summerville has clinched his moment in recent weeks to live up to the number 10 shirt vacuum left by Brazilian Raphinha, with the 21-year-old becoming the youngest player in Leeds’ top-flight history to score goals in three successive fixtures with finishes against Fulham, Liverpool and Bournemouth.
Leeds gaffer Jesse Marsch had been initially reluctant to utilise the winger at the start of the campaign despite letting Daniel James leave on loan but now seems to be showing trust in the youngster. Which all work out to be positive signs for Summerville and Leeds moving forward, with Marsch hopefully continuing to use him as a weapon in the attacking formation up front.
Whilst the young Dutchman may not be able to maintain consistently the high standards he’s set, he’s certainly shown the heights he is capable of reaching.
It’s likely more weight will be put on Summerville’s shoulders after recent outings, but his demeanor of quiet confidence highlights he should have no problems dealing with it.
