Dutchman Donny van de Beek is buoyant hopeful with his new lease on life flying off to a new beginning since joining the Blues on loan from Manchester United where he had struggled miserably for game time and hadn’t started a Premier League game all season mainly under the tenure of Norwegian Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Speaking to Sky Sports, the former Ajax star said:
“A new area, new teammates, a new coach it’s a new start. This gives me a lot of new energy.
“If you see where the club is in the table, they also want to [move] up and I also as a player, I want to go again, show what I can do. I think this combination is good.”
His vibrant comments come amid reports, albeit as yet unsubstantiated, that he is optimistic of seeking a permanent switch to Goodison Park this summer if is able to help keep the Blues out of relegation this season.
Suggestions are already circling that Van de Beek has no desire to return to Manchester United after an immensely confidence-shattering spell at Old Trafford where he was confined mainly to the bench and not able to start even a single League game all season before finally moving to Goodison Park on loan with former Chelsea manager Frank Lampard having kept an eye on him all the while even after the former’s exit from Stamford Bridge as the head coach.
Van de Beek has been excellent for Lampard on both of his appearances so far and this has sparked hopes among the Everton hopefuls that the club would push to sign him permanently in the summer.
An unappreciative United had looked a gift-horse in the eye and bought him for £35m from Ajax 18 months ago but were completely clueless on how to best maximise their use of him.
