After his side dispatched Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City with a 2-0 win, idiosyncratic Jose Mourinho has said he will watch the Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid game and then sleep like an angel.
Goals from an on-target Heung-Min Son (fifth minute) and Giovani Lo Celso (65th minute) were beyond Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City to deal with and they slipped to defeat in north London with the result has sending Tottenham to the top of the Premier League, lending more credence and speculation to the talk that the side are serious contenders for the title this season, as Mourinho’s latest project seems to be effectively gathering momentum.
Although pleased with the win over Manchester City, Mourinho however is keen to keep the buzz low about their league contention chances, saying instead that the win over the Cityzens will set him up for a nice evening with dinner and La Liga on his menu.
“People cannot expect us to come here and after one season we are fighting for the title”, he told BBC’s Match of the Day programme
“We are not fighting for the title, we are just fighting to win every match.
“But we are going to lose matches, we are going to draw matches.
“But dinner tonight will be nice and relaxed and I will watch Atletico Madrid vs Barcelona and sleep like an angel.”
For his evening entertainment and relaxation, Mourinho has opted to watch Atletico Madrid entertaining Barcelona instead of the Premier League game between Manchester United and West Brom kicking off at the same time.
