Didier Deschamps has named his 23-man France squad for the World Cup.The squad boasts of envious talent in all departments.A team with\u00a0Hugo Lloris guarding the sticks, Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti in centre-back, midfielders N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba in midfield,with best attackers in the shape of Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe.<\/p>\n

With the ludicrous amount of talent available, there have been several victims of big names missing out from the\u00a0Les Bleus’ Squad.It features Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette and Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder, to name but a few.Marseille midfielder\u00a0Dimitri Payet went off injured in Marseille’s Europa League final defeat to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday night, has been omitted\u00a0on fitness grounds, while Karim Benzema remains unavailable for selection.<\/p>\n

Here’s look at the Eleven Big Players who did not make the cut:<\/p>\n

1.Wissam Ben Yedder (Sevilla)<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Sevilla midfielder failed to make it to the French squad despite having an impressive season with Sevilla. Ben Yedder has scored 35 goals since signing in July 2016 including two against Manchester United to eliminate the English side from the Champions League. Often compared with Romario\u00a0who comes alive in the penalty area but can be selective with his movement elsewhere. But with the amount of talent available in the attacking department with\u00a0Les Bleus’ Ben Yedder\u00a0misses out.<\/p>\n

2.Kingsley Coman (Bayern Munich)\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Bayern forward was excluded from the French squad due to the wealth of attacking options Didier Deschamps and with so much attacking talent available there were always going to be casualties and Deschamps has preferred Ligue 1 stars Florian Thauvin. The Bayern forward misses out on the\u00a0Les Bleus’ party despite scoring 9 goals in 34 games for the Bundesliga side in all competitions. Under\u00a0Jupp Heynckes\u00a0Coman has been an integral part of Bayern\u2019s attacking verve as Frank Ribery and Arjen Robben missed out due to injury\u00a0for a considerable stretch.<\/p>\n

3.Beno\u00eet Costil (Bordeaux)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

If there is one who is inhabited by the national selection, it is Beno\u00eet Costil.\u00a0Regularly called to the French team for two years, selected for Euro 2016 as the third goalkeeper, the Bordeaux keeper celebrated his first cap in November 2016 in a friendly against C\u00f4te d’Ivoire (0-0).\u00a0In recent months, with the domination of Alphonse Areola (Paris St Germain), Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur), Steve Mandanda (Olympique de Marseille), the Bordeaux shot-stopper has found it difficult to find a place in the France World Cup squad to Russia 2018.<\/p>\n

4.Mathieu Debuchy (St \u00c9tienne)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The \u00a312million full-back defender made a switch from Arsenal in January for Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne on a free. The32-year-oldd defender hasn’t given retirement a moment’s thought this season and has been a revelation since returning to French football .In all\u00a0Debuchy has made 12 league appearances for St Etienne and his impressive performances have prompted talk of a return to the France national team at the World Cup .But the fairy tale run and hopes of a “magic” return to the World Cup has been dashed with the selection of\u00a0Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City), Benjamin Pavard (Stuttgart), Adil Rami (Marseille), Djibril Sidibe (Monaco) ahead of him.<\/p>\n

5.Lucas Digne (FC Barcelona)<\/strong><\/p>\n

France have called up Barcelona duo Samuel Umtiti and Ousmane Dembele into their World Cup squad but Lucas Digne misses out.The left back\u00a0has made 16 appearances in all competitions for Barca this season but has spent the majority of the campaign as the backup to Jordi Alba.But lack of playing time at Barcelona and\u00a0Manchester City’s Benjamin Mendy recovering in time to make it to the French squad has been detrimental to Digne’s World Cup chances as the 24 year old has been exluded from Deschamps Russia plans.<\/p>\n

6.Alexandre Lacazette (Arsenal FC)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lacazette, 26, won the last of his 16 caps in a 2-2 friendly draw with Germany in November, has been left out of the World Cup 2018 squad due to availability to exceptional talent in the forward line.\u00a0Despite the Arsenal forward scoring eight times in his last 10 appearances after returning from injury, it wasn’t enough to impress the Deschamp.With\u00a0 Olivier Giroud (Chelsea), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico Madrid), Kylian Mbappe (Paris St Germain) at his disposal it was always going to be difficult to make a cut into the French squad.<\/p>\n

7.Anthony Martial (Manchester United)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Martial have struggled for consistent form this season along with lack of playing time, eventually falling victims of an extremely strong attacking core.The Red Devils winger has struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho and missed the final Premier League match of the season with a knee injury, though has travelled to London for the FA Cup has been condemned to reserves squad and\u00a0will only be called on if injury strikes Deschamps’ first choices for the forward roles.<\/p>\n

8.Adrien Rabiot (PSG)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 22-year has become a mainstay for Unai Emery\u2019s Paris Saint-Germain this season, making 42 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring 5 goals and providing 7 assists. He has also got a passing accuracy of 93% .Currently, Manchester City and Barcelona are in the race for his signature but the talented midfielder has been excluded from Deschamps World Cup plans for Russia 2018.<\/p>\n

9.Mamadou Sakho (Crystal Palace)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PSG youngster Presnel Kimpembe got the nod to be the squad’s fourth centre-back. Crystal Palace’s Mamadou Sakho, who has not played for France since 2016 has been left out as\u00a0Raphael Varane (Real Madrid), Samuel Umtiti (Barcelona)are the leading contenders to feature in the first team.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman’s two years at Spurs have been fairly turbulent, but his form with New Castle and with Toulouse before that has seen him earn 53 caps for his country to date and he is also a versatile player in the middle with the ability to play on either flank or centrally.But the central midfielder has been left out from Les Bleus as\u00a0N’Golo Kante (Chelsea), Steven Nzonzi (Sevilla) makes the cut along with ever reliable\u00a0Blaise Matuidi.<\/p>\n
