This veteran striker put in a great performance in 2017. He scored 17 goals in the V. League, becoming the first local player to win the Golden Boot in 15 years. In the Vietnamese Cup, the 32 year-old scored three goals, helping Binh Duong finish runners-up. These efforts earned Duc a spot in the national team after a 3-year absence.<\/p>\n

This experienced captain was at his best in 2017. He was a pivotal figure in the midfield for a Tractor Sazi that struggled without his leadership between the two transfer windows. He was arguably the second-best player in Iran’s Gulf Pro League in the first half of the 2017-18 season.<\/p>\n

Pahang had a strong 2017 in Malaysia thanks to the influence of Matheus Alves up front. His sharpness in front of goal is clear; but what’s even more impressive about the Brazilian forward is his consistency. He bagged 18 goals en route to helping Pahang finish second in the league. Meanwhile, the former Gangwon FC forward also netted five goals in the Malaysia FA Cup, even though his side only made it to the quarter-final.<\/p>\n

The prolific goalscorer is strong both in the air and on the ground. He rarely dribbles the ball, but his sense of positioning enables him to finish at will.<\/p>\n

In last season’s Liga 1 he scored 37 goals from 34 appearances, breaking Peri Sandria’s 22-year-old season record of 34 goals in the process. He shined the most in August, scoring three goals against Madura United, five goals against Mitra Kukar, and one goal each against Semen Padang and Persipura.<\/p>\n

“Evergreen” is a good description of Tim Cahill, although Socceroos fans might prefer the phrase “old but gold.” Even after a career that has spanned three continents and totalled over 160 goals in well over 600 appearances, the 38-year-old is still regarded as an asset. His two goals against Syria in the AFC World Cup playoff helped earn Australia a ticket to Russia in 2018.<\/p>\n

After helping Levante earn promotion into La Liga, Naxto received his Malaysian passport and joined Johor DT in Malaysia without taking a summer break. It didn’t take long for him to show his quality at his new team with four goals in 17 appearances. Beyond his goal-scoring abilities, he was a dominant force who helped the team win their fourth consecutive league title as well as their maiden Malaysia Cup crown.<\/p>\n

The Muangthong United legend scored five goal in seven AFC Champions League games, which was enough to help his club reach the knockout stage. He shined in the domestic league as well, with 14 goals and 13 assists in 31 appearances.<\/p>\n

Jackson spent his first Thai League season in outstanding form, with 34 goals and 11 assists in 34 matches to help Buriram United clinch the T1 title.<\/p>\n

After a productive half-season with Muangthong United, Chanathip excited already-high expectations in becoming the first Southeast Asian player to earn a regular J1 League starting role. The Thai star helped Consadole Sapporo avoid relegation, and his performance has opened the door for compatriots such as Teerasil Dangda, who will join Sanfrecce Hiroshima next season, to make the journey to Japan.<\/p>\n
