Vietnam national women’s football team coach Mai Duc Chung is ready to lead the men\u2019s squad after Nguyen Huu Thang decided to resign on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Chung was an assistant coach for former Vietnam national team coach Alfred Riedl. He took on the role of interim manager after the Austrian was sacked by Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) in 2008.<\/p>\n
The 65-year-old had lead Vietnam U-23 team to the third round of 2008 Olympic men\u2019s football qualification and was praised for earning some impressive wins for the team.<\/p>\n
However, he was terminated contract by VFF due to unsatisfactory results in the 24th<\/sup> SEA Games in Myanmar, where his side suffered from disastrous 5-0 defeat to Singapore U-23 in the bronze game.<\/p>\n \u201cI had been in charge of men\u2019s team, but the women\u2019s side also needs a coach.
