Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) vice-president Doan Nguyen Duc told local reporters about his plan to resign from the current post after the U-22 team failed to reach their gold medal target at this year\u2019s SEA Games.<\/p>\n
A year ago, Duc vowed to step down as VFF vice-president if Vietnam U-22 failed to win gold medals at the 2017 SEA Games.<\/p>\n
After the team was knocked out of this year\u2019s tournament by the 3-0 defeat to rivals Thailand<\/a> on Thursday, the businessman said that he would hand the resignation letter to VFF to keep his promise.<\/p>\n \u201cI will submit the resignation letter to VFF Board to step down from the VFF vice president post right after finishing my business trip abroad,\u201d Duc told Tuoi Tre reporters.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cI keep my promise to step down because Vietnam U-22 failed to win SEA Games men’s football gold medal.<\/p>\n \u201cI quit because I have done my best for years in fully investing to a generation of young talented football players. I made my great efforts with the dream of bringing a gold medal of football for Vietnamese supporters.
