Singapore U22<\/a> head coach Richard Tardy spent the whole training day urging his players to keep focused on every game at 2017 SEA Games, which takes place this week.<\/p>\n

As reported by Today Online<\/a>, players who made mistakes during the one-and-a-half- hour-long training session on Saturday were immediately rewarded with a frustrated shout of \u201cwake up\u201d or \u201ccome on, do better!\u201d directed at them.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe can play a very good game one day, and play very badly the next,\u201d he lamented. \u201cOur problems with consistency are still there … and we\u2019ve faced this issue on many occasions.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis inconsistency is because the majority of the players here are still very young. The average age of this squad is about 20 years old, which makes us one of the younger teams at this SEA Games. We need to push them, but the problem is sometimes these young players forget what it takes to perform at a high level … which is to prepare well and fight hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Young Lions will face hosts Malaysia, Laos, Myanmar and Brunei during the group stages of the SEA Games football competition.<\/p>\n
