Indonesia is set to lead a consortium of Southeast Asia countries in a bid to host the 2034 World Cup, the\u00a0Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI) said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
PSSI vice president\u00a0Joko Driyono said the country had proposed to lead a consortium of Southeast Asia countries in a council meeting of the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) in Vietnam.<\/p>\n
“It will be officially endorsed in the council meeting in Bali in September”, Driyono said.<\/p>\n
The PSSI vice president also said that the bid to host football’s biggest tournament was “ambitious”, but the consortium had 17 years to prepare.<\/p>\n
Only two or three of the 10 ASEAN countries would be in a position to host a World Cup match, due to\u00a0geographical and infrastructure considerations, Driyono added.<\/p>\n
