Former South Korea U-20 and U-23 coach Shin Tae-yong is to take charge of the country’s senior team, according to reports in South Korea.<\/p>\n
Shin will lead the Taeguk Warriors through the 2018 World Cup, should the team qualify for the tournament,\u00a0The Korea Football Association’s Technical Committee said.<\/p>\n
The 46-year-old manager replaces\u00a0Uli Stielike, who was sacked last month following an embarrassing 3-2 defeat against Qatar in a World Cup qualifier.<\/p>\n
Recently, Shin managed South Korea U-20 at the FIFA U-20 World Cup at home, where the team suffered a round-of-16 exit. Prior to that, he was in charge of the country’s U-23 team. He led South Korea at the 2016\u00a0Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games, where they reached the quarter-finals.<\/p>\n
