A-League powerhouse Sydney FC have amassed the greatest points tally in the competition’s history after a final-round 2-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Second-half goals from Milos Ninkovic (56′) and Alex Brosque (87′) took Sydney to 66 points from 27 games, one point more than the mark of 65 set by Ange Postecoglou’s Brisbane side in 2011.<\/p>\n
“It’s still hard to fathom. Sixty-six points out of 81 \u2014 it’s crazy,” coach Graham Arnold said.<\/p>\n
However, he was quick to play down any comparisons to Brisbane Roar.<\/p>\n
“We don\u2019t compare ourselves to Brisbane Roar. They were a fantastic team and Ange [Postecoglou] did a wonderful job,” Arnold told Fox Sports<\/em>.<\/p>\n “All we\u2019ve tried to do is create history with points and stats.”<\/p>\n “We clearly know that\u2019s one trophy. The bigger one is coming and we\u2019ll focus on that.”<\/p>\n “At the end of the day, it\u2019s a wonderful debate [to have] of who is better.”<\/p>\n When asked about player performances after the match, Arnold had nothing but praises for skipper Brosque.<\/p>\n “Brosquey\u2019s such a winner.
