Despite being sacked from his position as Indonesia national team head coach, Shin Tae-yong’s stock within the footballing world remains high after the wonderous work that he has done with the\u00a0Timnas Garuda<\/em>. Following his departure from the Indonesia post, here are a few potential destinations for Tae-yong should he decide to continue his coaching career within Southeast Asia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

PSIS Semarang<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shortly after Tae-yong’s sacking, a video of PSIS Semarang president Yoyok Sukawi began to make circulation within social media. Within the video, Yoyok discussed the possibility of bringing Tae-yong in as the\u00a0Mahesa Jenar<\/em>‘s head coach in the near future.<\/p>\n

However, Yoyok told\u00a0Tribun Jateng<\/em> shortly after the video went viral that he made the statement regarding Tae-yong back in early 2022, when it was rumored that the South Korean has yet to extend his contract with the Indonesia national team. And while at that time the PSIS camp did try to reach out to Tae-yong and his agent, nothing came out of it, and eventually PSIS opted for Sergio Alexandre as their head coach for that season.<\/p>\n

When asked about whether PSIS will make an approach for Tae-yong after his departure from the national team, Yoyok vehemently denied it, stating that PSIS are content with current head coach Gilbert Agius at the helm.<\/p>\n

Hanoi FC<\/strong><\/p>\n

V.League 1 giants Hanoi FC are currently struggling under head coach Le Duc Tuan, with the Capital Team currently languishing in 6th place and having suffered the ignominy of being knocked out of the 2024\/25 Vietnamese National Cup on penalties by second-tier side Dong Thap FC at the Hang Day Stadium on January 12th.<\/p>\n

The pressure on Duc Tuan was immense, as fans felt dissatisfied by the performance of the 42-year old, who is also the assistant team of the Vietnam national team. Duc Tuan was thought to have failed to utilize a star-studded squad containing the likes of Do Hung Dung, Nguyen Van Quyet, Do Duy Manh, and several other national team stalwarts.<\/p>\n

When Hanoi fans heard the news that Tae-yong has been sacked from his Indonesia national team post, many of them flooded Hanoi’s social media posts begging the club to bring in Tae-yong, sharing the same views that the South Korean is the only man who could only save the Capital Team from a season to forget.<\/p>\n

However, with Tae-yong demanding a sizeable wage, it’s a tall order for Hanoi or any other V.League 1 club to bring him into Vietnamese soil without any future financial consequences.<\/p>\n

Port FC<\/strong><\/p>\n

Shortly after Tae-yong was sacked, Thai League 1 powerhouses Port FC announced that head coach Rangsan Viwatchaichok had tendered in his resignation following the Lions of Khlong Toei’s embarrassing 2-1 home defeat at the hands of last-placed Khonkaen United on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The presence of Asnawi Mangkualam within the Port squad would gave Tae-yong the advantage, as the South Korean is all-too familiar with the right-back’s style of play and Asnawi’s development would be further boosted with Tae-yong’s presence in the Port dugout.<\/p>\n

The Lions of Khlong Toei are also being bankrolled by the wealthy Nualphan Lamsan, which rendered any problems regarding Tae-yong’s wages a non-issue.<\/p>\n

However, Tae-yong’s competition for the Port hot-seat will be Brazilian gaffer Alexandre Polking, a man who’s all too-familiar with Thai football. His experience with both the Thai League 1 and the Thailand national team would surely play into Mano’s advantage, not to mention that his assistant and translator is already within the Port coaching staff.<\/p>\n

There’s also current caretaker Choketawee Promrut, who was Rangsan’s assistant prior to his resignation. Recent history has shown that Port has a knack of giving the top coach job to their caretakers after a brief interim period, with the likes of Jadet Meelarp and Sarawut Treephan as well as Choketawee himself being the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

BG Pathum United<\/strong><\/p>\n

Another Thai League 1 giant that parted ways with their head coach shortly after Tae-yong’s sacking. After a shock 2-1 defeat at home to Ratchaburi FC on Wednesday, BG Pathum United announced the resignation of head coach Surachai Jaturapattarapong, leaving the position ripe for the taking.<\/p>\n

Financially-wise BGPU are just as loaded as Port, which meant that the Glass Rabbits could easily rope in Tae-yong should they want to. There’s also the fact that BGPU boasted an ambitious squad containing the likes of Chanathip Songkrasin, Teerasil Dangda, Sarach Yooyen, and the Fandi brothers Ikhsan and Ilhan, and like Port, BGPU are also gunning for the top half of the Thai League table. They’re also well and truly alive in the cup competitions, meaning that Tae-yong has the potential of sweeping a quadruple – Thai League 1, Thai League Cup, Thai FA Cup, and ASEAN Club Championship.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
