Former Brazil\u00a0international Zico has reportedly sent his profile to the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and expressed interest in becoming head coach of the national team following Kiatisuk Senamuang’s departure.<\/p>\n
Officials within the Thai FA revealed that two former Brazilian stars had contacted the association and submitted their credentials, but refused to name them.<\/p>\n
Zico, who is currently\u00a0coaching Indian Super League side Goa,\u00a0previously managed the Japanese national team. Under his reign, the Blue Samurai won the 2004 Asian Cup title and qualified for the 2006 World Cup.<\/p>\n
The former Brazilian striker’s bid should interest Thai FA President Somyot Poompunmuang, who expressed the desire to hire an “experienced hunter” to guide the national team to the World Cup in the future.<\/p>\n
Carlos Dunga, 53, is believed to be the other Brazilian to apply for the job. He was in charge of Brazil from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2016 before being sacked.<\/p>\n
Other candidates also in contention for the vacancy at the Thai national team include\u00a0Winfried Sch\u00e4fer and\u00a0Rene Meulensteen.<\/p>\n
