For a\u00a0second year, we follow every Asian football player in the Europe.<\/p>\n

From Japan, South Korea and North Korea and China, all the way to Iran, Jordan, and Uzbekistan, Asian players have moved to the European continent to advance their football career. Out of these players, many play in second-division leagues of Europe, or smaller European leagues such as Poland, Greece, and Austria which are not considered among the elite.<\/p>\n

At Football Tribe Asia, we rank the best ones who currently play in top-flight leagues in England, Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Netherlands, Russia and Portugal as per UEFA Coefficient ranking.<\/p>\n

The followings are top 5 Asian players in the elite football leagues of Europe based on performance and ratings in March 2017.<\/p>\n

(Players\u2019 ranking includes considerations such as the number of goals scored, assists, their Pass Accuracy Ratio % and their rating*).<\/p>\n

5. Maya Yoshida (Southampton)<\/strong>: The Japanese centre-back made two appearances for Southampton in March and got an overall rating of 7.08. Yoshida won 13 aerials, made 3 successful tackles and 24 clearances in total.<\/p>\n

4. Milad Mohammadi (Terek Grozny)<\/strong>: The 23-year old Iranian player made his debut mark in our Top 5 Asian players in Europe list this season.<\/p>\n

The left-back completed 90 minutes in all 3 matches played in March, including the outstanding performance which earned Terek Grozny at draw away at FC Rostov.<\/p>\n

Mohammadi got the overall rating of 7.09 after making 3 successful tackles, 11 clearances and 4 interceptions for his side.<\/p>\n

3. Mathew Leckie (Ingolstadt):<\/strong> The Aussie native put in another good set of performances for Bundesliga side Ingolstadt in March.<\/p>\n

Leckie featured in two matches in the past month, in which he earned the rating of 7.28 out of 10. The right midfielder completed 5 dribbles, won 16 aerials challenges and attempted 3 shots on target in total.<\/p>\n

2. Hiroki Sakai (Marseille)<\/strong>: The 26-year old right-back earned the rating of 7.31 after playing 90 minutes in his 3 matches in March.<\/p>\n

The Japanese duly carried out his defensive responsibility by winning 12 tackles, 9 clearances and 6 interceptions. With the presence of Sakai at the back, Marseille recorded 2 wins and 1 draw in March, conceding only 1 goal.<\/p>\n

1. Yuya Osako (FC Cologne)<\/strong>: This is the third consecutive month this season that the attacking midfielder is among the list of top 5 players in Europe. Osako achieved this feat thanks to his great performance against league leaders, Bayern Munich, despite Cologne\u2019s loss.<\/p>\n

Overall, Osako played 2 games in March and earned a rating of 7.61. His passing ratio stands at 71%, a\u00a0drastic improvement from the previous months.<\/p>\n

Osako completed 2 key passes, won 2 dribbles and 7 offensive aerials for his side. The\u00a026-year-old also made a last-ditch challenge off the line to save a goal for Cologne.<\/p>\n
