Mohamed Salah inadvertently made a mockery of his seventh-place finish in the Ballon d\u2019Or with his riveting performance against Everton on Wednesday, which again served to cement his unquestionable status as surely one of the best players in world football, with some even going all the way to adamantly claim that he\u2019s the best player currently, bar none.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday in the Merseyside derby, Salah scored twice during Liverpool\u2019s recent 4-1 victory at Goodison Park that handed the hosts their worst-ever defeat in 39 years.<\/p>\n
The Egyptian forward\u2019s first was an emphatic one-on-one finish after Jordan Henderson had slotted him through after 19 minutes. That goal doubled Liverpool\u2019s lead after Henderson had put his side 1-0 ahead.<\/p>\n
Then, in the second half, an equally accomplished finish put Liverpool 3-1 ahead after Seamus Coleman was accordingly punished for his mistake. Diogo Jota made it 4-1 late on but it was a night that Salah dominated once again.<\/p>\n
Salah has now scored 19 goals in 19 matches in all competitions and truly has established himself as one of the best players in world football.<\/p>\n
However, the Egyptian star was oddly only good enough for a 7th place finish in this week\u2019s Ballon d\u2019Or vote \u2013 something his manager, Jurgen Klopp,obviously found almost impossible to swallow.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was surprised about his position,\u201d Klopp said on Tuesday at his press conference.<\/p>\n
\u201cJournalists vote for the Ballon d\u2019Or so\u2026 if you think he should be higher up, you should convince your colleagues!<\/p>\n
\u201cMo should have been higher up, definitely.\u201d<\/p>\n
And after another incredible performance for Liverpool, Salah himself was asked what he thought of his Ballon d\u2019Or ranking.<\/p>\n
Salah couldn\u2019t help but burst out laughing before shaking his head and saying \u201cI have no comment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The reporter suggests that Salah will be higher next year to which he replied: \u201cHopefully, you never know.\u201d<\/p>\n
