Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) President and Johor\u00a0Crown Prince Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim held a\u00a0press conference yesterday\u00a0to clear up some issues regarding FAM.<\/p>\n
In a surprise announcement, the new FAM President revealed that\u00a0former Johor Darul Ta\u2019zim\u2019s head coach, Mario Gomez, may not be appointed as Malaysia\u2019s national football head coach after all. The two parties seemed to be engulfed in a contractual dispute.<\/p>\n
“There is a possibility Mario Gomez may not be Malaysia coach.\u00a0He wants more money than what he was getting at JDT\u00a0but it may not be possible,” he was quoted on Four Four Two<\/em>.<\/p>\n “JDT was a club and the finances were different. Here (at FAM) we are looking at ways to tighten up the finances.\u00a0Talks are still underway. Gomez hasn\u2019t given a yes or a no yet,” he added.<\/p>\n However, Mario Gomez has hit back at the FAM President on that \u201cexplanation\u201d and said he never did say such things.<\/p>\n “That is a lie. I didn\u2019t ask for more money than what I earned at JDT”, quoted the\u00a0Malay Mail Online<\/em>.<\/p>\n Mario Gomez went on to explain that his only concern was the length of his contract.
