Tottenham\u2019s Heung-Min Son gave an emotional interview and was close to tears after Tottenham\u2019s loss to Man Utd which was a huge dent in their Premier League top four ambitions.<\/p>\n
It was the South Korean who scored the game\u2019s opening, and Tottenham\u2019s solitary, goal as the hosts went into the break 1-0 up.<\/p>\n
The club have had issues with holding on to leads and that was again true to form as an onslaught of three second-half goals saw United snatching the three points to cause a huge dent in Tottenham\u2019s top four hopes.<\/p>\n
28-year-old Son, desperate to make up for his recent injury absence and give the club\u2019s fan base something to cheer about, clearly didn\u2019t take the failure to do so well.<\/p>\n
In an interview with Spurs\u2019 media team at full-time, a visibly emotional Son said:<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m really disappointed this afternoon. I don\u2019t know what to say, I\u2019m really sorry. I feel bad, I know how passionate the fans are here.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m not bothered about the goal. I just really want to win because I came on last game, back from injury, we were leading and then drew.<\/p>\n
\u201cI played today so I really wanted to get the win, but I don\u2019t know what to say.\u201d<\/p>\n
Jose Mourinho praised the attitude of his Spurs side as he focused instead on the possibilities that still remain with a Carabao Cup final to come in a fortnight.<\/p>\n
And Son also underlined his desire to end on a high note.<\/p>\n
\u201cEight games left. I know its always easy to say \u2018lets be positive\u2019 but I really want to finish the season well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
\u201cSix points behind top four, we need to get results and hope the teams above us drop points. We have to take a big responsibility.\u201d<\/p>\n
The interviewer finished by saying:<\/p>\n
\u201cSonny, I\u2019ve known you for six years and have done lots of interviews with you. I don\u2019t think I\u2019ve ever seen you so low.\u201d<\/p>\n
After a long pause, Son replied:<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah. It\u2019s a really sad afternoon. I know it sounds crazy that I\u2019m so down but football is all about the results. If we win I\u2019m happy and if we lose I\u2019m down for two or three days.\u201d<\/p>\n
Coincidentally, Son was also subjected to racist abuse following his role in a disallowed goal for United.<\/p>\n
Tottenham issued a statement which said:<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has again been reported to the platforms and we shall now undertake a full review alongside the Premier League to determine the most effective action moving forward. We stand with you, Sonny.\u201d<\/p>\n
