With a new turbocharged frontline featuring Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Gareth Bale in their attack, pundits and fans alike are saying Spurs have the firepower to be title contenders in the Premier League this season.<\/p>\n
Gary Neville has agreed with Jamie Carragher that it would be a great story for Jose Mourinho\u2019s Tottenham to win the Premier League, but while Neville reckons Spurs have the firepower to finish top of the pile, he isn\u2019t holding his breath to see the north London side end their long wait for the title.<\/p>\n
\u201cI said a couple weeks ago on Monday Night Football that Spurs couldn\u2019t win the league, and I still don\u2019t think they can,\u201d he told The Gary Neville Podcast.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I do agree with Jamie Carragher that it would be the most outstanding story to see Jose Mourinho win the Premier League with Tottenham.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be something that would alarm Chelsea fans, Manchester United fans and Arsenal fans. It would be one of the great stories, because Tottenham don\u2019t win leagues!<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s got the forward players to do it. You think of the strike force and the goals \u2013 it\u2019s incredible.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tottenham briefly went top following their 1-0 win at West Brom on Sunday \u2013 although they were deposed later on by Leicester after the Foxes saw off Wolves.<\/p>\n
Spurs\u2019 brief appearance at the league\u2019s summit was the first time they had topped the table since August 2014, but with Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Son Heung-Min in their attack there are hopes they can win a first league title since 1961.<\/p>\n
Carragher told Sky Sports if his former club Liverpool were to be dethroned, he would love Tottenham to be crowned champions, saying it would be satisfying to see Mourinho prove his doubters wrong, as many believe the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Manchester United manager\u2019s best times are now only memories of a fading past.<\/p>\n
\u201cI obviously want Liverpool to win the league, but if someone else were to win it, I\u2019d love to see Jose Mourinho win again,\u201d Carragher told Sky Sports\u2019 Monday Night Football a few weeks back.<\/p>\n
\u201cMourinho has had so much thrown at him recently; accusations that he\u2019s yesterday\u2019s man, his football is from a different era.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d love to see him win again and almost stick two fingers up at pundits and the press, whoever.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt would be a good story for Mourinho to do that again. After what he\u2019s achieved in his career, he still gets a lot of criticism because he rubs people up the wrong way at different times, but it would be nice to see him win again in a different way.\u201d<\/p>\n
