Liverpool convincingly clinched their first league title last season and have been linked with a move for Thiago Alcantara this summer while City, on the other hand, were said to be interested in signing Lionel Messi, who told Barcelona he wanted to leave the club before finally deciding to stay.<\/p>\n
And Murphy thinks that Liverpool\u2019s current team dynamics and harmony might be too much for City to match next term.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think either Jurgen Klopp or Pep Guardiola will be champions again in May,\u201d he told the Daily Mail.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I believe the latest twist in Lionel Messi\u2019s on-off move to Manchester City swings the advantage back to Anfield.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs it stands, the evidence points to Liverpool.<\/p>\n
\u201cEverything about the team works, everyone understands their jobs from full-backs to up front. To use a car analogy, you know they\u2019ll pass the MOT before going into the garage.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome will question the lack of transfer activity but I\u2019m sure Klopp believes the old saying: \u2018If it ain\u2019t broke, don\u2019t fix it\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor City to stop them, they need to sign Messi, but that looks unlikely after the Argentine\u2019s statement on Friday evening, unless there is a major U-turn from Barca and they let him go for a reduced price,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cMessi at City could have been a total game-changer in the title race because he\u2019s the best player that ever lived. City lost nine times last season but dominated most of them without taking their chances.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat wouldn\u2019t have happened in a Messi team, he\u2019d never be deprived of the ball in this City team, and would have found a way.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s sad for Premier League fans we\u2019ll have to wait to see Messi, if at all. But Liverpool fans will be delighted. I make them favourites now even if the bookmakers disagree.\u201d<\/p>\n
