Fujieda MYFC goalkeeping coach Sidmar could usurp Kazuyoshi Miura’s position as the J.League’s oldest player,\u00a0Sponichi<\/em> reported on Monday.<\/p>\n

According to the paper, the 54-year-old Brazilian could be registered as a player for the first time in 22 years following an injury to one of the squad’s three current goalkeepers, two of whom were born after he left Shimizu S-Pulse in 1995.<\/p>\n

Were he to return between the sticks for the J3 League side, Sidmar\u00a0would best Miura’s record as the oldest player to step onto the pitch, which stands at 50 years and 27 days following the former Japan international’s recent appearance for Yokohama FC.<\/p>\n

Sidmar, whose athleticism earned him the nickname ‘Spiderman’ during his time in Japan, returned to the country\u00a0as a goalkeeping coach following his retirement as a player.
