Thailand (Ranked 43rd \u2013 September 1998)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thailand suffered a major failure in the 1998 Tiger Cup which was hosted in Vietnam. However, two wins against Myanmar and Indonesia was enough for them to move up to the 43rd position in FIFA ranking in September 1998. The team also achieved 4th place at the Asian Games that year. It was the highest rank the War Elephants ever reached in its history.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Singapore (Ranked 73rd \u2013 August 1993)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The FIFA ranking was introduced in August 1993, and in the first edition, Singapore national team was ranked 73rd, mainly due to their achievement at the 17th SEA Games, where they finished third. Singapore played a total of 16 matches that year, winning 8, drawing 5 and only losing 3.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2353 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/football-tribe.com\/asia\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/03\/Malaysia-1993.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"564\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Malaysia (Ranked 75th \u2013 August 1993)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the initial version of FIFA ranking, Malaysia was ranked 75th, the highest position the team ever reached. Indonesia (Ranked 76th \u2013 September 1998)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Indonesia finished third at the 1998 Tiger Cup with two wins, two draws and one defeat. Vietnam (Ranked 84th \u2013 September 1998)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vietnam recorded a historic 3-0 victory against Thailand in the 1998 Tiger Cup semi-final, resulting in a 14-rank leap in the FIFA Ranking. The team was ranked 84th in August 1998. Vietnam achieved this feat by winning 3 and drawing 3 out of their 8 matches played that year.<\/p>\n<p><!--nextpage--><\/p>\n<p><strong>6.
