Former Buriram United and Thailand international Anawin Jujeen is set to join up with Malaysian side Petaling Jaya City for the upcoming season. What will the experienced veteran bring to the Malaysian Super League?<\/p>\n

Wealth of Thai League experience<\/b><\/p>\n

Anawin comes with over 250 Thai League games under his belt, many of which came with big clubs such as BG Pathum United and Buriram United. The right-winger came through the ranks at BG Pathum United (then known as Bangkok Glass FC) and was instantly a mainstay in the team, making 20 or more league appearances per season between 2009 and 2012.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 4 seasons of great service, Anawin broke many supporters’ hearts when he left for Buriram United where he went on to win 3 league titles and a handful more domestic trophies.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

A diligent worker<\/b><\/p>\n

The Thai football community first heard of Anawin Jujeen thanks to his appearance in the reality TV show; \u201cPepsi World Challenge 2006\u201d, where 2 youngsters from 11 nations take on weekly challenges to find the ultimate pair – Thailand came second behind China.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After the show ended, expectations were high to see the kid from Nakhon Sawan, Thailand\u2019s new golden boy, in action. Despite the hype, Anawin kept his head down, remained patient and was able to forge himself a solid career – surviving a downfall many prodigious talents are often victim too. In a sense, you could say, Anawin\u2019s true gift is his work ethic.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This work ethic kept his feet on the ground and he eventually debuted for BG Pathum United. It is what kept him at Buriram United for four seasons and earned him the captain\u2019s armband during his time with Suphanburi FC. Anawin\u2019s standard didn\u2019t drop when he moved to second-tier side PTT Rayong and brought the Firepower up a year later.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

By this time, Anawin had spent over a decade in the top tier of Thai football and managed to reinvent himself from a winger to wingback or fullback role – evidence of his studious nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

Old wolf, hungry for a fresh start<\/b><\/p>\n

At 33 years old, Anawin is still hungry for new challenges. There were talks between Anawin and one of the top-5 Thai League sides, but a deal couldn\u2019t be done, with rumors pointing to game time as the main issue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The folding of PTT Rayong, which left many players stranded, must\u2019ve left a bad taste in him thus a change of environment – a new challenge – seems like a great idea compared to playing as sub with another T1 club or dropping down to T2.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thai international at youth and senior level<\/b><\/p>\n

Anawin may not have the best of luck with the national team but he was still a key member during his time representing the War Elephant. The dazzling winger was one of the first names on the team sheet in the 2009 SEA Games squad which included future superstars such as Kawin Thamsatchanan, Theerathon Bunmathan and (an injured) Teerasil Dangda – led by Steve Darby with Kiatisuk Senamuang as assistant head coach.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The tournament in Laos was a catastrophe, as Thailand were knocked out from the group stage for the first time in 36 years thus ending Anawin\u2019s, and quite a few talented players, national team hopes. Nonetheless, Anawin did make his senior debut in 2014, starting in the Asian Cup Qualifier defeat to Lebanon in Kiatisuk\u2019s second game in charge of the senior squad.<\/span><\/p>\n

So that\u2019s it; four reasons why the Malaysian Super League should be excited about Anawin Jujeen.
