In England, Liverpool are now running a campaign to follow Arsenal\u2019s 2003\/04 invincibles season, racing far ahead of the rest of the pack having remained unbeaten after 25 games. But, far away in Asia, the Invincibles stories are also been happening across the continent, from Guam to Iran and everywhere in between. Here are some of the most memorable ‘invincibles’ sides the continent has seen in the last ten years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Hilal Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)<\/b><\/p>\n

The recent AFC Champions League winners from Saudi Arabia became the first Asian club to win an invincible season in the 2010s. The Blue Crescent played a total of 26 games without a single loss to win the Saudi Premier League 2010-11 season. Unfortunately, they couldn’t hold the record for the next season after their rival Al-Shabab repeat their invincibles story in 2011-12 season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Muangthong United (Thailand)<\/b><\/p>\n

In the 2012 season, Muangthong United became the first Thai club to have an invincible season, playing 34 games, winning 25 and drawing nine. This season the <\/span>Kirin were <\/span>managed by Serbian boss Slavi\u0161a Jokanovi\u0107, most recently the head coach at Fulham FC, who replaced English legend Robbie Fowler before the season started. Jokanovi\u0107 made the fans proud of his work, delivering the club their third league title and becoming the first to finish an entire season without defeat.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Buriram United (Thailand)<\/b><\/p>\n

A year after Muangthong\u2019s invincibles story, arch-rivals Buriram refused to be left in the dust and repeated the fear just one season later. Due to the suspension of Sisaket FC, each team had to play a total of 32 games, of which the Thunder Castle won 23 and drew 9. Buriram went on to win all of the domestic titles in 2013 including Kor Royal Cup, Thai Premier League, Thai FA Cup, and Thai League Cup under Spanish manager Alejandro Men\u00e9ndez. In 2015 Brazilian Alexandre Gama repeated Men\u00e9ndez’s achievements and takes the <\/span>Thunder Castles <\/span><\/i>record another invincibles season.<\/span><\/p>\n

Johor Darul Ta\u2019zim (Malaysia)<\/b><\/p>\n

Financially backed by the Johor Sultanate, the <\/span>Southern Tigers<\/span><\/i> have become the dominant force in Malaysia since the 2014 season. Out of all of their titles in recent seasons, their most special one came during the 2016 season when they played 22 matches without a single loss, winning 18 of them. They also won the 2016 Malaysian FA Cup and kept ahold of the Piala Sumbangsih trophy after also winning it in 2015. Unfortunately, they couldn’t complete a quadruple that season because of their elimination in the group stage of the Malaysia Cup.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

FC Istiklol (Tajikistan)<\/b><\/p>\n

From 2010 until 2019, the <\/span>Lions<\/span><\/i> have only missed out on winning the Tajik League on two occasions. The side finished the season as unbeaten champions on a remarkable four <\/em>occasions, in 2010, 2014, 2015 and 2017. Unfortunately, the side missed out on completing a remarkable treble in the last season, losing in the finals of both the Tajik Cup and the AFC Cup.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Al-Ahed (Lebanon)<\/b><\/p>\n

Al-Ahed was undefeated in 22 matches in the 2017-18 Lebanese Premier League, winning 16 games and scoring an impressive 50 goals. This was a special achievement after having previously won titles in the 2016-17 and 2018-19 seasons. The <\/span>Yellow Castle<\/span><\/i> also won the 2019 AFC Cup for the first time, defeating North Korean side Club April 25 in the final.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ceres-Negros (Philippines)<\/b><\/p>\n

The Busmen <\/span><\/i>are very strong on their home soil and last year they made a perfect performance as they were undefeated in all local matches starting from the 2019 Philippines Football League season and the 2019 Copa Paulino Alcantara, winning both championships. Last season invincibles stories not only happened in the Philippines but also in Oman with Dhofar Club, who were undefeated in 26 games, and in Guam with NAPA Rovers’ run of no defeats in 21 games.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
