Muangthong United star striker Heberty Fernandes has been linked with a remarkable move to arch-rivals Port FC ahead of the 2020 Thai League season, according to this report<\/a> from SMM Sport.<\/p>\n

This move comes as a shock as Heberty clearly established himself as Muangthong’s most important player last season, finishing as the Thai League’s top scorer with 17 assists in the 30-game season. He also finished as the club’s top scorer with 14 goals of his own, placing him fifth on the league’s top scorers chart. There is little doubt that Heberty is Muangthong’s prized asset.<\/p>\n

However, according to the aforementioned report, Muangthong are seemingly no longer willing to pay Heberty’s exorbitant 2 million baht per month salary, which is among the highest in the division.<\/p>\n

Port FC have been in the hunt for a reliable striker, after neither of their two foreign attackers (Josmiar Rodriguez and Rolando Blackburn) were able to truly establish themselves during the latter half of last season.<\/p>\n

The Klongtoei side paid a similar wage to now-released striker Dragan Boskovic over the past two seasons, and are clearly willing to stump up the same price again as they make a charge at the 2020 Thai League title and are set to participate in AFC Champions League qualifying for the first time in their history.<\/p>\n
