After 6 days and 15 matches, the Asian representatives have finally registered good results after Australia and China got their first win in this year’s World Cup campaign. Australia, who faced Brazil after their last met on 2016 Olympics, pulled off a 3-2 win while <\/span>The Steel Roses<\/span><\/i> got a narrow win against South Africa.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Matildas<\/span> went down by two goals from <\/span>As Canarinhas, <\/span><\/i>but managed score three and earn a comeback win in Montpellier. Both changes felt like the right choices to replace their seniors. Luana, who plays for Swedish side Avaldsnes IL, is a defensive midfielder like Formiga, who got the yellow card in the first half. Ludmila, the Atletico Madrid striker, is the perfect sub for Marta, who looked tired enough on the pitch.<\/span><\/p>\n

But nobody expected the change to affect Brazil\u2019s gameplay so drastically, as they conceded two goals in the next 15 minutes after the half time. The referee once reviewed the goal as the lineswoman raised the flag to indicate that Sam Kerr was standing in an offside position. However, a review of the video showed that she was onside when Monica made her attempted header, meaning that the referee allowed the goal. The <\/span>Matildas<\/span><\/i> pulled off their first win of the tournament to make Group C even more interesting going into the final day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
