The football tournament 2018 Asian Games will kick off in less than one week, with 25 teams gunning for the gold medal on September 1 in Bogor.<\/p>\n

Here’s Football Tribe’s list of players from Southeast Asia whom we believe you should be keeping an eye on during the competition:<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

Goalkeeper - Nont Muangngam (Thailand)<\/b><\/p>\n

Former France U-16 member Nont is a commanding goalkeeper who won gold at the 2017 SEA Games. He also won the 2017 Chang FA Cup with Chiang Rai United before switching to Police Tero this season.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Right Back - Vu Van Thanh (Vietnam)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Van Thanh is the most versatile player in the squad and can play at any field position, but has often started at right back in the national team. A starting member since 2016, he refused an invitation from Serbia's Vojvodina to continue playing for HAGL.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Centre Back - Rodney Celvin (Malaysia)<\/strong><\/p>\n

After moving to PKNS earlier this year, Rodney Celvin has transformed himself into one of the best defenders in the country. Due to his Ghanaian heritage, is physically strong and can also be dangerous in set piece situations.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Centre Back - Tran Dinh Trong (Vietnam)<\/strong><\/p>\n

While he is just coming back from injury, Dinh Trong has proven himself to be the key man in Vietnam's defence. With three years in the V.League and experience in the FIFA U-20 World Cup and AFC U-23 Asian Cup, he will be a vital player in this year's Asian Games.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Left Back - Kevin Deeromram (Thailand)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Having rejected German side Werder Bremen at age 17, Kevin has been one of the Thai League's best players and a crucial component of Port FC's strongest league campaign in recent memory. This season Kevin has already made seven assists in all competitions, more than any other Thai fullback.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Central Midfielder - Evan Dimas (Indonesia)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dimas has established himself as Indonesia's best playmaker since Firman Utina retired. He participated in Indonesia's win at the 2013 U-19 AFF Cup as well as the 2017 SEA Games. This year Dimas will be under pressure to lead the team to their touted goal of a semifinal appearance in the Asian Games.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Central Midfielder - Jose Fonseca (Timor Leste)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fonseca is one of a few players in the squad with plentiful experience abroad, as he currently features for Thailand's Phayao FC and has previously been scouted by Qatari giants Al Sadd.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Right Midfielder - Febri Hariyadi (Indonesia)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Labeled as one of the most talented wingers in Indonesia, Febri boasts pace, accurate dribbling, good crosses, and a powerful long-range shot. He is left-footed, so if played on the right wing he's able to cut inside, while from the left wing he can deliver crosses to the striker.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Attacking Midfielder -\u00a0Phatana Promathep (Laos)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite being only 18 years old, Laos' brightest prospect has already earned a move to Chonburi FC in the Thai League after making a major impact in last years' Mekong Cup, and this tournament could be the next step in his rapid development.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Left Midfielder - Akhyar Rashid (Malaysia)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Akhyar Rashid is quite simply Malaysia's best teenager and could even walk into the national team's starting eleven. He has tremendous potential despite being only 18 years of age. Was an integral part of the Malaysian team that went to the quarterfinals of the AFC U23 Championship in January. <\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n

Striker - Aung Thu (Myanmar)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Aung Thu has been widely touted as the major success story of the Thai League's new ASEAN quota, being the best regional import in the division. This season he's scored 10 goals and registered eight assists in a fantastic campaign for Police Tero.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n
