Football Federation Australia (FFA) has appointed Graham Arnold to succeed Dutchman Bert van Marwijk as the national team coach after 2018 World Cup.<\/p>\n
Arnold will look to guide Sydney FC to the A-League title before departing at the end of the season in May to start a four-year tenure with the Socceroos.<\/p>\n
This is the second stint for Arnold in the coaching role of Socceroos. He led the national team for a year after Guus Hiddink stepped down after the 2006 World Cup in Germany.<\/p>\n
His first major assignment is to defend Australia’s Asian Cup title in\u00a0the United Arab Emirates in January\u00a02019. During his first\u00a0spell, Arnold\u00a0faced harsh criticism\u00a0following the\u00a0disappointing quarter-final exit of Australia team at the Asian showpiece in 2007.<\/p>\n
