Thailand Announce Squad for AFC U23 Championships

Midfielders: Airfan Doloh (Buriram United), Wisarut Imura (Bangkok United), Worachit Kanitsribampen (Chonburi FC), Supachok Sarachart (Buriram United), Anon Amornlerdsak (Bangkok United), Jaroensak Wonggorn (Samut Prakan City), Sorawit Panthong (Muangthong United), Kanarin Thawornsak (Port FC), Ben Davis (Fulham FC)

Forwards: Supachai Jaided (Buriram United), Suphanat Mueanta (Buriram United), Nantawat Suankaew (BG Pathum United)

The most notable addition to the squad is Fulham’s half-Thai midfielder Ben Davis, who has previously trained with the squad but missed out on the SEA Games after not being released by his club. Having previously represented Singapore at youth level, the tournament could see him play his first competitive game for the War Elephants.

Ekanit Panya (Chiangrai United) and Patcharapol Intanee (Muangthong United) are both highly rated players from this age group and will miss the tournament due to injury. Buriram’s Rattanakorn Maikami will also miss out on the tournament despite being a regular starter at club level.

Buriram’s 18-year-old midfielder Airfan Doloh has also got the nod after performing impressively with the U19 side. Other unexpected inclusions are goalkeeper Supawat Yokakul, who was forced into a starting place in an injury-ridden Samut Prakan City team last season, and Sorawit Panthong, who has pushed himself back into the picture after a year of injuries and unsuccessful loan spells.
