Hanoi FC and defending National Cup champions Binh Duong advanced to the quarter-finals of the tournament over big wins over Vietnamese First Division sides.
Goals from Sy Giap, Tuan Canh, Ho Tan Tai and a brace from U23 international Nguyen Tien Linh helped Binh Duong to win 5-0 over Tay Ninh.
Elsewhere, Vietnam national team midefielder Pham Duc Huy scored a brace, including a nice curling effort from range, to contribute to a 3-1 win for Hanoi over Ha Tinh FC.
In the other matches, last year finalists Thanh Hoa lost 1-2 to Hai Phong FC at home while three out of four remaining matches need the penalty shoot-out to decide the winner.
Teams will immediately to play the quarter final at next midweek with the highlight will be the match at the Thien Truong stadium where Hanoi visit Nam Dinh.
