Vietnam striker Nguyen Cong Phuong has made a surprising prediction ahead of the 2019 AFC Asian Cup final tonight between Japan and Qatar.

At 18:00 local time, the Asian Cup 2019 final will be played between Japan and Qatar. These are two well-deserved finalists who have earned the right to play in on the continent’s biggest stage.

Given the performances of both teams, many people think that this game will be hard to predict. Japan gas run hot and cold throughout the tournament, grinding out a result in one match before stylishly casting their opponents in the next. Qatar, meanwhile, have been on rampant form and are yet to concede a goal during this tournament.

However, Vietnam National Team striker Nguyen Cong Phuong believes Japan will have no difficulty overcoming their opponents.

The Hoang Anh Gia Lai forward gave his thoughts in an exclusive interview with Football Tribe: “Japan is playing very well in this competition. It is very hard to know what they will do in each game they played.”

“With this way of playing, chances are they will have no difficulty to overcome Qatar. I predict Japan will win with the score 2-0 and become the champions for the 5th time.”

In the past year, Cong Phuong and his teammates in the Vietnam National Team have met both Japan and Qatar, suffering a 0-1 defeat against the East Asian side in the Asian Cup quarter-final, while defeating the future World Cup hosts on penalties at the U23 AFC Championships in 2018.
