V.League Runners-up Thanh Hoa FC could face severe consequences next season, as title sponsor FLC has pulled the plug on a sponsorship deal with the club.
The Vietnamese property giants have been backing the club well in recent seasons, with the side climbing up the ranks to become one of the most notable in the country. After two consecutive second-place finishes, Thanh Hoa looked to position themselves as one of the nation’s strongest clubs.
However, the announcement that FLC has ended their partnership with the club has already sparked a mass exodus of top players.
With one of the league’s strongest competitors expected to struggle next season, it remains to be seen whether or not any sides can compete against defending champions Hanoi FC, who themselves are backed by Thai conglomerate SCG and is home to many National Team regulars.
In fact, two of Thanh Hoa’s top stars have already left for the capital side, with foreign striker Pape Omar Faye and goalkeeper Bui Tien Dung ready to turn out for the defending champions next season.
