Former Real Madrid star Rafael van der Vaart has been targeted by Bali United, according to Indonesian media outlet TribunNews.
“This will definitely be a surprise for Bali United fans,” Bali president Pieter Tanuri said on Sunday. “We are still negotiating with the midfielder.”
In addition, Indonesia’s Dutch-born international Stefano Lilipaly is reportedly acting as the connection between Bali United and van der Vaart.
The former FIFA World Cup runner-up has been spending a season at Danish Superliga side’s FC Midtjylland since joining in 2016.
Meanwhile, after finishing second in 2017 Liga 1 season, Bali United are looking to strengthen their squad to make it through the qualification stages of next year’s the 2018 AFC Champions League.
