Mark Clattenburg leaves England to take up role in Saudi Arabia

English referee Mark Clattenburg has decided to quit his job in the Premier League to take up a new position in Saudi Arabia, Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGGMOL) confirmed.

Clattenburg has been widely considered as one of the finest referees in recent memory.

He had taken charge of many important football matches, including the 2012 Olympic men’s final, the 2016 FA Cup final, the 2016 Uefa Champions League final as well as the final of the 2016 European Championship.

According to reports, Clattenburg will replace former Premier League referee Howard Webb as the head of the officiating body. However, he is also expected to officiate at football in the country.
