Prak Sovannara named as Cambodia national team head coach

Former head coach of Boeung Ket FC, Prak Sovannara, has been appointed as the interim head coach of Cambodia national team.

As reported by Fox Sport, Football Federation Cambodia announced Sovannara as the successor of Leonardo Vitorino in a letter on Thursday.

On firsthand, Sovannara will be in charge for the upcoming international friendly match against Myanmar on 9 November and the AFC Asian Cup qualifier against Jordan 5 days later.

Sovannara previously managed the national team from 2008 to 2009, and returned for a short period between 2012 and 2013.

The 44-year-old was appointed to the top job at Boeung Ket in February 2015, taking over from John McGlynn.

Since then, Sovannara has remained a much-loved and respected figure at the Rubbermen, in which the veteran coach lead them to the two-straight league titles in 2015 and 2016.
