2016 Puskas winner Faiz Subri: I cannot compare my goal with Giroud’s scorpion kick

Malaysia’s Faiz Subri was humble when talking about his 2016 Fifa Puskas award for goal of the year.

Faiz said his strike was “incomparable” to Olivier Giroud’s 2017 winner, in which the Arsenal striker won for his stunning scorpion kick against Crystal Palace.

“I cannot compare my goal with his (Giroud’s) because my goal was from a dead ball,” said Faiz yesterday, as quoted by the New Straits Times.

On the other hand, the 29-year-old expressed his joy for Giroud for winning the award this year.

“Firstly I want to congratulate Giroud for winning the award.”

“He deserved to receive the Fifa award because it was a unique goal in itself.”
