Thailand U-22 team manager unsatisfied with victory over Timor Leste

Thailand U-22 team manager Watanya Wongopasi expressed her disappointment although her team recorded a 1-0 victory in the second group stage match of SEA Games against Timor Leste.

“We completed the mission of earning three points but we could score just one goal against Timor Leste. The next match against Cambodia will be a hard-fought battle, which should help our players to regain their confidence and improve in the next games,” she said, as quoted by Tri Thuc Tre news site.

However, the team manager has been confident about the prospect of overcoming heavy contenders Vietnam and qualifying for the semi-final.

“Vietnam got a win and we were being held. But our coaching staff and players do not feel any pressure at all. We will win all the next four group matches, including the battle against Vietnam, to get the ticket to the semis,” she added.

Thailand, who are standing third in Group B, will have a chance to improve their position via the next group stage match against minnows Cambodia on Sunday.
