Myanmar U-22 leave it late to overcome Laos

Myanmar U-22 scored twice in added time to record a 3-1 win over Laos in Wednesday’s pulsating SEA Games 2017 men’s football clash.

On the back of an impressive 2-0 win against Singapore, Myanmar started the match brightly with a high-pressure approach.

Mg Mg Lwin had a chance to open the score just 15 minutes into the match, but his shot was parried away by Laos goalkeeper Saymanolinh Paseuth.

But Laotian defenders failed to stop one of Myanmar’s most dangerous attacking threats around the half hour mark. Aung Thu, who already scored a brace against Singapore, opened the score with a decisive shot on target.

Phatana Phommathep’s 60th-minute equalizer appeared to be securing one point for Laos, but Shwe Ko hit home from close range in added time, before Hlaing Bo Bo rolled his shot into the net just two minutes later to secure a 3-1 victory for Myanmar.
