Singapore U22 name final 20-man squad at SEA Games

Singapore U22 head coach Richard Tardy has announced the 20-man squad for the 29th SEA Games held in in Kuala Lumpur.

The squad are expected to be able to compete in the next edition of the SEA Games in 2019 as the average age of all the players is relatively low, 20.23.

Upon arriving in Malaysia, the Singapore U-22 have found it difficult to adapt to the poor training condition in the host country.

As reported by The Straits Times, the team spent more time in their team bus than in the plane since the training ground in Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance National Institute of Valuation (Inspen) field located about 30km from their hotel in Kuala Lumpur’s city center.

“We were very poor in training yesterday and I was very angry with what I saw. I can’t understand because I gave them a day’s rest on Thursday,” coach Richard Tardy said.

“Today was to wake them up. I am a little angry we arrived late. I asked to train at 4 pm but we could only train at 7 pm. Hopefully, they feel better today because yesterday was a bad session. I hope it will be better tomorrow and even better on Monday,” he added.

Singapore will kick off their campaign against Myanmar at the Selayang Municipal Council Stadium on Monday.
